From August 27 to 28, 2020, the Anhui Provincial Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition for Veterans was held in Chuzhou City. Li Ming, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Anhui Provincial People’s Congress, attended the award ceremony and toured the exhibition showcasing the competition’s achievements.
This competition was co-hosted by the Provincial Department of Veterans Affairs and the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, with the theme “Showcasing the Excellence of Veterans and Leading the Wave of Entrepreneurship and Innovation.” The 95 participating projects spanned five major categories: emerging industries, traditional industries and lifestyle services, modern agriculture, targeted poverty alleviation, and innovative teams. After intense competition, five first-prize awards, ten second-prize awards, and sixteen third-prize awards were ultimately conferred. The Provincial Department of Veterans Affairs will selectively recommend the winning projects to participate in the national competition to be held at the end of the year.
In recent years, our province has implemented a series of targeted measures in policy and funding to support veterans in starting their own businesses. These include introducing preferential policies such as business-startup subsidies and tax and fee reductions, as well as developing guaranteed loans for veteran entrepreneurs, with individual loan limits up to RMB 150,000 and corporate loan limits up to RMB 3 million. We have also established incubation bases for veteran entrepreneurship and set up dedicated zones within public entrepreneurship platforms to provide integrated policy incentives and end-to-end support services for veteran entrepreneurs. To date, a total of 137 such bases have been officially designated across the province, helping more than 30,000 veterans secure stable employment.
